Lufthansa freight revenues tumble

German carrier Lufthansa’s revenue per air cargo metric tonne/kilometre was down by more than 23 per cent for the first three quarters of 2009, reversing a EUR160 million profit in 2008 to a loss of EUR200 million.  The company has reduced its costs base within the logistics division but says the outlook remains "distinctly negative".

International Australian scheduled freight traffic in August 2009 decreased by 4.5 per cent over August 2008 to 59,845 tonnes, according to the latest Aviation Statistics from the Australian Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics (BITRE).
