Duo ready for China’s biggest cargo partnership

China’s Air China and Cathay Pacific Airways will set up China's biggest cargo joint venture in Shanghai next year.

Air China will hold 51 per cent in the venture and Cathay Pacific will take the balance. The two carriers will provide the venture with 10 Boeing 747-400 jets.

Atlas delays freighter deliveries

Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings, the parent company of freight carriers Atlas Air and Polar Air Cargo, has rescheduled the delivery of three of 12 B747-8 Freighters it has on order.  The company initially was scheduled to take six aircraft in 2010 and the balance in 2011, but now has rescheduled three into 2012 and 2013 because of the economic downturn.

American Airlines has hired banking group Rothschild and its Japanese associate, Global Advisory Japan, to advise it on a move to forge a closer alliance with Japan Airlines. American and rival Delta are both pursuing the loss-making JAL ahead of the Japanese government’s soon-to-be-announced restructuring plan for the carrier.
