Emirates on track, will post profit

The chairman of Dubai-based Emirates, Sheik Ahmed bin Saeed al-Maktoum, says the carrier will not delay any new aircraft orders through to at least 2011 and will post a profit for the fiscal year ended March 31.  The carrier is scheduled to take delivery of 17 new planes in the new fiscal year that began April.

Japan’s All Nippon Airways says group revenue dropped 6.4 per cent from the previous fiscal year to US$14.3 billion in fiscal 2008, reflecting a drop in both air cargo and business travel. It carried 354,000 tons of freight on its international routes during the year, up 6.5 per cent from fiscal 2007.

Germany's civil aviation regulator has reinstated the operating permit for Dusseldorf-based carrier Blue Wings, saying that examination has shown it "could meet the legal requirements" for commercial airlines under European law after withdrawing the carrier’s licence in March.
