Name change for swine flu

The World Health Organisation has bowed to pressure from meat producers and religious groups and renamed the former swine flu ‘Influenza A’. Meanwhile, the Mexican government has downgraded the illness, saying it has killed 101 people – down by more than 70 from earlier claims.

Finnish carrier Finnair’s ceo Jukka Heinonen has described his airline’s early 2009 results as “bad”, “frightening”, and “extremely ugly” after turnover declined by 10 per cent to EUR516 million and (corrected) business profit collapsed from EUR7.8 million last year to a negative EUR47.5 million.

Planemaker Boeing says it has cleared about two-thirds of the US government’s Federal Aviation Administration certification hurdles needed to put its new 787 ‘Dreamliner’ into service. FAA has approved most of what has been submitted, a Boeing spokesman said.
