The 1994 Aviation Safety Action Partnership (ASAP), a joint venture between US carrier American Airlines, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the country’s Allied Pilots Association has been revived after lapsing in October last year. ASAP gave AA pilots a way to report safety-related incidents without risking disciplinary action or retribution from management or the FAA, even if the pilots were at fault.

Australian Customs officers have arrested and charged a US citizen at the Supernova Trade Fair in Melbourne for allegedly attempting to smuggle games depicting child pornography into Australia.  He allegedly brought the pornography into the country in, or described as, a consignment of comic books. he is due to face the Melbourne Magistrates Court this week.

Turkish Airlines expects to increase flights in the northern summer by 12 per cent and available seat kilometres by 24 per cent due to new routes and additional flights to destinations including New York, Singapore, Johannesburg and Seoul. The Istanbul, Turkey-based airline will fly to 152 cities, 116 of them international, during the summer season, it says.
