Tiger to launch Australian domestic airline

International airline Tiger Airways is seeking regulatory approval to establish a new domestic Australian airline in competition with Virgin Blue and the Qantas Group. Tiger Airways president and chief executive officer, Tony Davis outlined the company’s plans to Federal Ministers yesterday and the airline has now commenced the process to obtain an Australian Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC).

United Airlines reported its preliminary traffic results for January 2007. The company reported its highest-ever January passenger load factor of 78 per cent. Total scheduled revenue passenger miles (RPMs) increased in January by 2 per cent on a capacity increase of 1.6 per cent in scheduled available seat miles (ASMs) compared with the same period in 2006.
