ANA INKS CODESHARE FREIGHT DEAL WITH ASIANA

ANA and Asiana have inked a deal to enter a cargo code-sharing agreement on freighter flights between Japan and Korea, with a planned start of 01 April. Under the agreement, a total 18 weekly flights between the two countries will carry both the ANA code, NH, and that of Asiana, OZ. This will be the first cargo code-sharing agreement between a Japanese and Korean airline.

Forwarding and logistics software company Australian-based Eagle Datamation International, has merged with Fountainhead International, a US-based developer of the CargoWise and Shiptrax products. The new business becomes one of the world’s largest software providers to multi-modal freight forwarders.

Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific Airways reported a reduced profit attributable to shareholders of HK$3,298 million (approx AUD$577.5 million) in its 2005 Annual Results compared with a profit of HK$4,417 million the previous year as high fuel prices continued to weigh heavy on the airline.

LAN TO INCREASE SYDNEY–SANTIAGO FLIGHTS

South American carrier LAN Airlines will add a sixth weekly A340-300 between Sydney and Santiago, Chile. The A340-300 offers six pallet configurations of around 18 tonnes per flight. LAN shares freight capacity with Qantas on the route.

Air New Zealand had appointed GSA Australia to represent the carrier in Adelaide, South Australia. Air New Zealand will begin flying three times weekly between Adelaide and Auckland using A320 aircraft next month. GSA Australia represents Malaysia Airlines, Air New Zealand and Austrian Airlines.
