BMI, TAM code-share takes effect

The code-share agreement between UK carrier BMI and Brazilian carrier Tam Airlines came into effect April 14, with passengers originating in Sao Paulo now flying to Heathrow to connect with BMI’s UK domestic services and flyers to Tam’s Sao Paulo hub able to continue on Tam flights to Rio de Janeiro, Curitiba, Salvador and Fortaleza.

Gollog launches new freight options

Brazil’s Gollog, the air freight arm of low-cost carrier Gol linhas Aereas Inteligentes, has launched Gollog Express, a new line of scheduled delivery and door-to-door products including next-day 6pm delivery; small document/parcel delivery (again by 6pm next day); next flight delivery with destination airport pickup within two hours of arrival and next-day 10am delivery in the main cities served by the carrier (from June 2009).

India’s Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has announced it intends to begin commercial operations of its new domestic departure terminal from April 19 and says carriers will move to it in a staged migration process, but officials from airlines claim they have not been informed of moving plans by the airport operator.

Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer says it has budgeted US$1.3 billion to develop a new cargo plane, initially for the military. The KC-390 will be developed in conjunction with the Brazilian Air Force and Embraer sees potential to export 700 of the new planes over 15 years, bringing in US$18 billion in revenue.
