Air France cargo down 23.3 per cent

Europe’s Air France group has reported a drop of 23.3 per cent in underlying cargo traffic in January, accompanied by a 10.4 cut in capacity and a drop in load factor down nine points to 53.5 per cent. Cargo traffic also fell in December – by 20.4 per cent.

British Airways says one possible obstacle in the way of its planned merger with Spain’s Iberia has been removed – the British carrier says it does not need approval from its pension trustees for the planned GBP3.5 billion merger. Chief executive Willie Walsh said: “There is no cash involved – it is an all-share merger. We don’t see any issue with our trustees.”
