Thailand reports air cargo volume dropped sharply in January after a fourth quarter 2008 fall to 107,249 tonnes outbound, down from 140,074 tonnes in the same period of 2007. Inbound totals were down to 61,900 tonnes from 77,550 tonnes a year earlier.

US carrier Alaska Airlines, which recently switched its fleet to Boeing 737-400s combis and one 737-400 freighter, has credited the US$100 million income from airfreight and mail for its 2008 Q4 net profit of US$16.4 million.
