Amerijet inks lease deal

USA-based Amerijet International has signed a seven year agreement with Cargo Aircraft Management (CAM), a subsidiary of Air Transport Services Group (ATSG) to lease five Boeing 767-200 freighter aircraft. The 767s will enable the airline to increase capacity on its scheduled service routes, and expand its charter availability.

Japan's Fair Trade Commission has warned Japanese logistics and distribution services firms that it plans to impose fines totalling about JPY10 billion for running a cartel on international air cargo services, the Kyodo news agency says.

Julieanne Alroe has been appointed managing director and chief executive of the Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC), replacing retiring chief executive Koen Rooijmans.  Alroe, who was previously general manager, Infrastructure Planning and Services for Sydney Airport, will take up the new role mid-year.

More accidents, fewer fatalities in 2008

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) says the total number of fatalities from aviation accidents dropped from 692 in 2007 to 502 in 2008, resulting in a 56 per cent improvement in the fatality rate from 0.23 fatalities per million passengers to 0.13 per million.
