Reid takes helm at TAPA

David Reid has assumed the role of acting chairman of the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Board of the Transported Asset Protection Association (TAPA), replacing Thorsten Neumann, who has relinquished the post due to work commitments. Steve McHugh becomes vice chairman in addition to retaining his current board role of strategic lead. A new board will be elected later in the year.

Kuwait-based low-cost carrier Jazeera Airways has posted a 42 per cent rise in quarterly profit compared to the same period in 2007. Net income was 745,815 dinars (US$2.80 million) on operating revenue of 10.78m dinars.

North American quits NY-Lagos route

US airline North American Airlines has quit the New York-Lagos route due to high fuel costs. It operated its last flight from Lagos Sunday night and local press reports Monday quoted the airline's managing director Africa Obed Owusu-Kissi as saying fuel costs had increased by 60 per cent since the airline started services. The decision leaves Delta Air Lines as the only American airline operating on the route.
