US freight suffers biggest fall in two years

The US Transportation Department's Bureau of Transportation Statistics' freight transportation services index, which measures changes in the output of services by the railroad, air freight and trucking industries, was 109.4 in March, 0.4 per cent lower than the same month last year.

Korean Air Lines has been ordered to give the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) documents relating to alleged price-fixing after the Australian Federal Court dismissed a Korean challenge that because the ACCC had already decided to institute proceedings against the airline, it was not entitled to issue the notice.

Plans by Nigerian Customs to implement a Customs fee of USD$1.10 per kg on all cargo shipments, effective 16 May, have been postponed until further notice. It is understood airlines have begun negotiations with the Nigerian government and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) on the proposed new tax claiming serious, long-term ramifications for trade if the tax is implemented.
