South American carrier Lan Cargo plans to expand air freight operations and has ordered two B777 freighter aircraft and is in negotiations for two additional B777 freighters that would be integrated into the fleet by 2011. Singapore Airlines has reported a 4.2 per cent year-on-year growth in system-wide passenger carriage (in revenue passenger kilometres) for May 2007, while capacity (measured in available seat kilometres) reduced by 1.5 per cent. This led to an overall improvement in passenger load factor (PLF) of 4.1 percentage points to 74.8 per cent. The number of passengers carried rose by 6.2 per cent over the same month last year to 1.50 million.
