BAWC strengthens Indian network

British Airways World Cargo has announced the launch of direct flights between London Heathrow and Hyderabad, India, effective October 2008. The carrier will operate five flights a week using wide-bodied Boeing 777s, increasing cargo capacity to and from the region by 2,500 tonnes per annum.

US government Homeland Security Committee chairman Ben Thompson has asked the US Government Accountability Office (GAO) to review the Transportation Security Administration's requirement for 100 per cent screening of air cargo on passenger planes.

Etihad Crystal Cargo has selected Sabre Airline Solutions’ CargoMax Revenue Manager to help increase cargo revenue and profitability and improve customer service.
Revenue Manager addresses all phases of revenue management operations from capacity forecasting to overbooking management, demand forecasting and bid pricing, Sabre said.

BAWC reports improved performance for air freightimproved

British Airways World Cargo (BAWC) has reported commercial revenue (flown revenue plus fuel surcharges) of £453.7 million for the nine months of the financial year beginning April 2007.  This is a decrease of 0.9 per cent after the effects of exchange rate movements are removed. This represents a marked improvement on the six month position, when revenues were 5.3 per cent down compared to the same period last year.

Just days after the Indian government okayed foreign carrier investment in Indian cargo operators, Lufthansa has confirmed negotiations with Jet Airways and Bangalore-based cargo airline QuikJet for a strategic cargo alliance.
