Australia –US Open Skies deal

The United States and Australia have concluded a landmark Open Skies aviation agreement that will eliminate restrictions on US-Australia air services for the carriers of both countries.  The agreement comes after three days of negotiations in Washington.

More rail freight competition for airlines

Within four years, a French consortium plans to put standard airfreight containers in nine converted cars on each of 20 high-speed TGV trains and use them to deliver mail in Western Europe, including Germany, where the postal service is competing with overnight courier firms using cargo jets and fleets of vans.
The ‘Carex project’ is being funded by the French postal service La Poste and FedEx.-Jack Handley

Bangalore, India-based Quikjet will launch its premium overnight cargo operation in April, using Boeing B737-300 cargo equipment and with Bangalore's new airport as a hub. The airline is expected to commence international operations to the Middle East and south east Asia after it settles into the domestic market, perhaps as early as end 2008.
