Eddington to head Infrastructure Australia

Former British Airways boss Sir Rod Eddington has been appointed inaugural chair of Infrastructure Australia, the Australian government’s advisory council on future infrastructure needs. Infrastructure Australia provides advice to Australian governments about gaps and bottlenecks that hinder economic growth and prosperity. It will also identify investment priorities and policy and regulatory reforms that will be necessary to enable timely and co-ordinated delivery of national infrastructure investment.

Fuel costs hurt African expansion

Rising fuel costs are limiting foreign cargo airline route expansion into African nations because many of the goods exported from the region are not price-elastic and exporters cannot absorb higher freight charges. Some estimates say perishables account for as much as 70 per cent of the region’s air cargo exports, with the majority of the (industrials) remainder from South Africa .-Jack Handley

The US’s Freight Feeder Aircraft Corporation is to upgrade its Freight Feeder aircraft by slightly widening the cargo bay to accommodate six of the larger 96in x 125in ‘main deck’ standard industry containers and pallets, and has re-designated the aircraft the FF5000.
