Good month for Finnair

Finnair’s February 2008 cargo traffic increased by 17.2 per cent over February 2007 in terms of cargo tonnes carried. The increase in Asian traffic was 35.0 per cent, while volumes of European traffic increased 4.7 per cent. North Atlantic cargo volume increased 4.3 per cent, although chartered cargo traffic was down 43.4 per cent. Cargo load factor in the Far East was 71.2 per cent.

Soil Association clears the air

Following a four-month research project, the UK’s Soil Association’s Standards Board has recommended the organisation’s standards be changed so that organic produce can only be air-freighted to the UK if it meets the Soil Association’s own Ethical Trade or the Fairtrade Foundation’s standard.
