Etihad Airways has launched non-stop flights between Abu Dhabi and Milan. The three-times-a-week service is operated with an A330-200 aircraft, offering a cargo capacity of 14 tonnes in each direction.

Change of operators for Frankfurt’s express and courier shipments

Time:matters GmbH has replaced Fraport Cargo Services GmbH (FCS) as the company responsible for handling express and courier shipments at Frankfurt Airport’s CargoCity North. FCS will continue to play a central role as key cooperation partner. Time:matters now directly operates the handling of express and courier shipments for its own customers as well as other integrators and courier companies and their respective customers. Names and contact numbers have changed but the processing facility remains the same: CargoCity North, building 455d.

Fake drug smuggling attempt foiled

Dubai authorities have foiled an attempt to smuggle 1,600 kg of fake Viagra tablets into the country through Dubai International Airport, according to minister of Health Humaid Mohammed Obaid Al Qutami. The consignment, reportedly brought from India in a bid to re-smuggle it abroad, was seized at the Dubai Cargo Village by drug control officials in cooperation with Dubai Customs. The consignment will be destroyed, the minister said.

Horse flights on hold

An outbreak of equine influenza in at least two Australian states has brought a complete halt to trans-Tasman horse flights.  MAF Biosecurity New Zealand has banned all such movements until the situation in Australia becomes clearer and until tests are completed at 'high priority’ premises in New Zealand that received horses in the 10 days prior to the outbreak being discovered.
